Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1.5 tsp fine sea salt
- 1.25 TBSP garlic powder
- 1.25 TBSP onion powder
- ground black pepper - to taste
- 8 oz thick cut bacon
- 1 tomato
- 2 avocado
- baby spinach - 5oz per 4 servings
- 4 slices cheddar cheese
Instructions
- Place beef, turkey, salt, and spices in a bowl and mix to combine. Form into 1/2 lb or 1/3 lb patties.
- Cook bacon in a frying pan over medium-high heat or in the oven at 400F on raised wire rack in a foil lined sheet pan for 20-25 minutes. Remove bacon from pan with a slotted spoon and set aside.
- Burgers can be cooked on the stovetop or on the grill. If using the stovetop, pour off all but about 2 TBSP of the bacon fat and return the skillet to the heat. If using the grill, preheat grill to medium-high heat.
- Place burgers on grill or in skillet and cook for 3 minutes. Flip and cook for 3 minutes on the other side for medium rare, or longer if you prefer your burgers well done.
- While the burgers are cooking, slice the tomato. Peel, pit and slice avocados.
- Serve burgers topped with cheese, spinach, bacon, avocado and other condiments of your choosing.
